Still Habitat Pilot

A living wildlife experience for your property

Give your land a voice your visitors can hear.

Still Habitat listens across your whole property and names the wildlife it hears — birds, owls, frogs, insects, mammals. Your guests and members watch it come alive in real time, and you get a season's worth of biodiversity to show the world.

It's your land. It's still habitat.

The wildlife of your place, told as it happens.

Most properties have a richer cast of wildlife than anyone realizes — it just sings when no one's watching. Still Habitat listens around the clock and turns that into something your guests can follow: who's here, where, and when, across the seasons.

No app to download, no equipment to learn. A glance at a screen, and your land is telling its own story.

We handle the listening. You get the experience.

It's a turnkey amenity, not a tech project. We place the ears, tune them to your property, and hand you a live wildlife feed your visitors can enjoy.

We place the ears

Small, solar-powered, weatherproof ears go wherever your wildlife is — the meadow, the creek, the vineyard rows. No wiring, no Wi-Fi to run, nothing for your team to maintain.

Your land gets named

Each ear identifies what it hears on the spot and tuned to your region. The result is a steady, growing record of the species that share your property.

Your visitors watch it live

Detections appear in real time — on a screen in the lobby or great room, and on every visitor's phone. A naturalist program that runs itself.

Solar where the sun is

Out in the meadow, the vineyard rows, or along the creek, a small solar panel keeps an ear running indefinitely — no trenching, no outlet, no battery swaps. Set it and forget it.

USB-C where it's handy

Near a barn, a porch, or the tasting room, just plug an ear into any USB-C charger. Shade, dense canopy, or a north wall is no problem — same device, same data, either way.

Wildlife of a living property — the kind of detection a visitor sees

A reason to stay up, and a reason to come back.

People are curious about the place they're standing in. Still Habitat answers that curiosity all day long — the hawk over the vineyard at noon, the chorus of frogs after dusk, the owl at midnight, the first warbler at dawn. A glance at the screen, and your visitors are part of the place instead of passing through it.

It's a conversation starter at the tasting bar, a naturalist program that runs itself in the lobby, and proof of the living landscape members and guests came for. The land does the talking — and gives them a reason to return.

The same wildlife, on the lobby screen and in every hand.

Catbird is the live view of your property. It runs in any browser — no app store, no download, no logins for guests. Put it on a screen at the front desk and it runs itself; share a link or a QR code and every visitor has it on their own phone in a tap.

One ear can't hear 200 acres. A mesh can.

A single box covers a backyard. Real properties are bigger — and the best wildlife is usually far from the nearest outlet or Wi-Fi signal. Still Habitat's ears talk to each other over long-range radio (LoRa), so a far-flung ear by the creek can relay its detections across the whole property without any network of its own.

Every ear hands its findings down the chain to a single gateway — parked just outside the property, where there's power and a signal. That one point is all that ever touches the internet. The result: your guests see the owl at the back fence and the frogs at the pond in one live feed, no matter how far apart they are.

A year of listening becomes a story you can sell.

The live screen is for the people standing on your land today. But a season — or a year — of detections is something bigger: hard evidence of the biodiversity your property supports, ready for your website, your label, your grant application, your investor deck.

“Certified noisy.” 1,200 nights of recordings; 142 wild species heard on this estate — and counting.
“Our vineyard hosts more bird species than the county has wineries.”
“Drink the wine the barn owls approve of.” Four owl species patrol these rows, for free, every night.
“We didn't plant a pollinator garden for the 'gram. We planted it, and 38 insect species RSVP'd.”
“Biodiversity, on the record.” Every species claim on this page is backed by a timestamped acoustic detection — not a vibe.
“The frogs came back.” Chorus-frog activity at the pond is up 3× since we restored the creek in 2026.
“47 species heard this spring, up from 31 last year.” Our habitat work, measured — not marketed.
“Stay where the coyotes sing you to sleep.” Heard on 211 of the last 300 nights.
“A dawn chorus so loud we had to count it.” Peak morning: 19 species calling in a single 15-minute window.
“Greenwashing-free since day one.” We don't say we're good for wildlife. We let you listen.

What a season's data gives you

  • A species list with counts and trends across the year
  • Seasonal shifts — who arrives in spring, who sings at night
  • Before-and-after proof for restoration or habitat work
  • A verifiable biodiversity baseline for certifiers and funders
  • Shareable highlights for your site, socials, and tasting room

Example claims for illustration. Still Habitat gives you the measured detections; the wording is yours. We keep it honest — birds are the strongest signal today, with other taxa emerging — so you only ever claim what your land was actually heard to support.

Properties with a story to tell.

If people visit, stay on, or invest in your land, Still Habitat turns its wildlife into something they can experience — and remember.

Built for your property — not the backyard.

The popular bird-listening gadgets are made for one hobbyist's backyard: a single box, plugged into Wi-Fi, birds only. Still Habitat is built for properties that host people — turnkey, covering the whole place, hearing every taxon, with a season of data you can actually use.

Standard offerings as of mid-2026, from public materials. Product names belong to their owners.

You decide what the world sees.

Show your wildlife proudly — most properties want their biodiversity seen. But it's your call: the public view shows the species and the story, while the complete record, the exact spots, and the raw recordings stay with you in Catbird, to share or keep as you like. Nothing about your land goes public unless you put it there.

You keep every insight. You choose what to share.

Still Habitat is an independent project by Jack Beautz, a software engineer and naturalist in the Bay Area — the hardware, models, and dashboard are all built in-house. [email protected]

Keep it wild. Keep it yours.

Still wild. Still yours. Still habitat.

We're placing a small number of installs on Bay Area properties in summer 2026 — lodges, wineries, preserves, and estates. If you'd like to give your land a voice your visitors can hear, let's talk.
